Viotia constitutes one prefecture of Central Greece, with
capital the city of Livadeia and is divided administratively in 18
municipalities and 2 communities. Important centers apart from Livadeia are
Thiva, Orchomenos, Vaya, Schimatari, Aliartos, Arachova, Antikyra, Agios
Georgios and Distomo. The prefecture borders north on the prefecture of
Fthiotida, westwards on the prefecture of Fokida, southernly is wetted by the
Korinthian gulf and borders on the prefecture of Attica and Easternly is wetted
by the Eubean gulf.
Viotia is a flat region and very fertile. It has two lakes, Yliki and Paralimni that supply with their waters the lake of Marathona.
The coasts of the Korinthian gulf are separated and they create the capes Aghia, Mavros Kavos and Mouda and a lot of islets. The climate of Viotia is mild, with cold winters and hot summertimes.
