Ierapetra

Ierapetra is built on the location of the ancient city Ierapytna. The original name of Ierapetra is Kyrva, attributed to her founder, Kyrva who came on the island from Rhodes. Preceded by other names such as Kamiros, Pytna, Ierapytna and eventually at the nearest years the name Ierapetra. The Ierapytna had a strategic position for trade era.

The Prefecture of Lasithi occupies the easternest department of the island of Crete and has capital the picturesque Agios Nikolaos.
