Koufonisia are constituted by Kato and Ano Koufonisi and belong in the cluster
of Small Eastern Cyclades. Geographically, we meet them S.E. of Naxos and
westwards Amorgos. Inseparable connected with their name is also Keros, a small,
uninhabited island.
Kato Koufonisi is almost uninhabited, the only buildings are a very few summer residences. Characteristic site of the island constitutes the little church of Virgin Mary that is found in the mole and is built on ancient ruins.
Ano Koufonisi is the smallest and most populated islet of Cyclades, a genuine fishing village. The white windmill in the harbour welcomes the visitor, while above unfolds the Chora, model of the architecture of Cyclades. The paradise beaches supplement the magic picture of the island, that has begun to be developed touristicaly the last decade and constitutes an ideal destination for summer, and not only, vacations.
