The villages of Thassos

Each traveller that will come to the island of Thassos should devote some time to get known with the picturesque villages of the island. Some of them are:
Tha Rachoni village Rachoni is an area which includes the settlements Rachoni, Skala Rachoniou and Saint George. Skala Rachoniou is the port of Agios Georgios and Rachoni village located about 5km from the sea. Previously the village of St. George was built at the back of the island to protect from pirate raids. When the time stopped the phenomenon of the pirate, the residents moved to its present position. In the village Rachoni will find traditional houses, taverns and cafes. There is the Church of the Assumption, which is built in a magnificent location. In the village it is producing high quality honey and olive oil.

The island of Thasos is found in North-eastern Aegean and it abstains shortly from the prefecture of Kavala, where it belongs also administratively. Capital of the island is the graphic Limenas.
